The next Happiness Ceilidh is coming to town on Saturday October 17th.
We use St Cuthbert’s Hall in Newnham Street which is a perfect venue for a relaxed ceilidh. It has a stage for the band, a great dance floor and a little bar which sells very reasonably priced drinks!
Our favourite band for these events is Kelly’s Eye – they are friendly and funny local guys who have been playing ceilidhs and barn dances locally and nationally for more years than they’d like me to mention.
Here’s how a ceilidh (pronounced kaylee) looks in action. You’ll notice that people don’t always know what they are doing, even though they have probably been to a ceilidh before, and that’s part of the fun. It’s very similar to a barn dance and some of the dances we do are more barn dance than ceilidh.
